Description

The Cornmill is a former cornmill that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 19th century and has been altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features dentilled eaves that rise to the gable of half-hipped tiled roofs. It has an L-plan layout, with the former mill house range aligned east to west and the former mill, which is now part of the house, projecting to the north at the west end.

The entrance is located on the east front of the mill range, which has two stacks for the mill range and one for the house range. The house range is two storeys high and has a half-hipped gable above a series of casement windows. The former mill range, which projects to the right, is situated on sloping ground, giving it three storeys at the gable end. The fenestration is irregular and broadly arranged in three sections, featuring 20th-century two-light casements throughout. The left section is beneath a lower half-hipped gable, with cambered heads. The loft entry has been converted into a window, and there is a doorway leading to the former wheel house to the right of centre, which has a 20th-century glazed door. A large overshot cast-iron mill wheel is located at the north gable end.
