Description
Affcot Mill Cottages is a former corn mill that has been converted into houses, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble and features plain tile roofs, along with three brick ridge stacks topped with 20th-century structures. It has a three-unit plan and includes a later rear wing.
The exterior is two storeys high with an attic and has three two-window ranges. The central range features Gothick glazed metal casements set in ashlar pointed arches, alongside a blocked hoist door on the first floor. There is a weathered tablet and an ashlar band at the eaves. The central entrance consists of a 20th-century door beneath a dressed stone segmental arch, which is framed by a simple wooden porch and similar casements on either side. The left wing mirrors this design but has 20th-century casements on the ground floor and an 18th-century casement at the gable. The right wing also follows this style, with smaller casements on the first floor and a 19th-century plank door featuring a barred light in a beaded frame. The interior has not been inspected.
