Description
Fox Cottage and No 37 (Meadow View) are a pair of estate cottages built in the mid-19th century, with some alterations in the 20th century. They are constructed of red brick and have concrete tiled roofs, showcasing a mix of Tudor-Gothic and Swiss Chalet styles. Originally, there was a central block with lower set-back porch blocks, but both porch blocks have since been raised and extended. The cottages are single storey with an attic, featuring four gabled dormers (previously two) that have decorative barge boards and finials. The windows include square-headed hood moulds and two-light casements with lattice glazing on Fox Cottage, while No 37 (Meadow View) has 20th-century casements. Fox Cottage has a tiled canopy over its doorway, and there is a gable entry to No 37. These cottages are one of two pairs of estate cottages, included for their group value with Woodbury View and Rotherfield.
