Description
15 and 17 Millgate Lane are a pair of cottages built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from brown brick and topped with a slate roof. The cottages have a rectangular double-depth plan, with No. 17 being significantly wider than No. 15. Both buildings are two storeys tall and feature a total of four windows, arranged as two sets of three-light casements, with the ground floor windows having segmental heads. The doorways are located to the left of each cottage. There are chimneys at both gables and an additional chimney on the ridge. A 20th-century garage is attached to the right side of No. 17. The rear and interior of the cottages have not been inspected. These cottages are comparable to Nos. 7 to 13 further up the same lane, sharing a similar social type but differing in form.
