Description
The Old Rectory is an early 19th-century parsonage house located in Great Witley. It is constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings and features a slate roof. The building is two rooms deep with a central hallway and stairwell, a double range roof, and end stacks on the front range, along with one end stack and one left stack on the rear range. It stands three storeys high and has a moulded stone cornice with a bedmould that suggests a frieze.
The façade includes a central bay with a slight forward projection and five windows, which are glazing bar sashes set in cambered heads on the second floor. The first floor features a central tripartite window, where the side lights are blind, flanked by two windows, all adorned with stone architraves and cornices. The outer projecting canted bays contain three 20th-century windows and have quoins, a listel cornice, and a blocking course. The central entrance is highlighted by a Doric portico in antis, leading to a semi-circular headed doorway with a keyed architrave, a plain fanlight, and a partly glazed door.
At the rear, there is a central semi-circular headed sash window at mezzanine level. Inside, the property boasts a fine 19th-century staircase and imported panelling in the room to the right of the entrance. Additionally, there is a lower two-storey former service wing that projects to the right at the rear.
