Description
Stourport Lodge is a lodge located at the Stourport end entrance to Witley Park, built around 1860. It is likely designed by S. Daukes for Lord Ward, who later became the first Earl of Dudley of Witley Park. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a slate mansard roof. It has an Italianate style and is T-shaped with quadrant porches.
The lodge is a single storey with an attic, showcasing a moulded plinth and chanelled rustication. It has a complete entablature and a balustraded parapet adorned with corner urn finials. A canted bay window is located at one end, featuring three windows, Tuscan pilasters, a dentilled cornice, and a balustraded parapet that forms a balcony above a pedimented dormer. This dormer is decorated with scrolls on the upper balustrade and has semi-circular arched windows with decorative spandrels. There is one window at both ends of the top stroke of the T, which has a slight forward break, with a similar cornice, balustrade, and dormer above.
The lodge also includes plain sash windows and quadrant porches supported by unfluted Ionic columns, which have a similar cornice and balustrading above. The entrance features a six-panelled door. The building was formerly known as Rosery Lodge.
