Description
This is a chest tomb for the Walker Family, located about 13 yards south of the south porch of the Church of St Bartholomew's. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of ashlar stone. The tomb features a moulded plinth that breaks forward at the corners and has a moulded, flat capping. The corner piers are adorned with recessed round-arched panels. There are raised inscription panels on the north and south sides, which display varied lettering. The tomb commemorates John Walker, who died in the 18th century, John Walker who died in 1804, Joseph Walker who died in 1809, Joseph Walker who died in 1831, Hester Walker who died in 1840, and Ann Woodward who died in 1832.
