Description
Three chest tombs are located about 2 meters north of a single Walker Monument in the churchyard of the Church of St. Lawrence. The southern tomb is for Thomas Walker, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The central tomb is unidentified but is probably also a Walker, from the same period. The northern tomb belongs to John Walker, who died in 1829.
All three tombs are made of limestone. The two southern and central tombs have flat tops with a moulded plinth and capping on a single base. Their ends and sides are plain, featuring flanking strips; the tomb of Thomas Walker has fluted strips, while the unidentified tomb has panelled sides with side panels divided into two sections. The northern tomb has a moulded plinth and capping on a base with a tent top. It features straight quarter baluster corners, plain ends and sides, all with quadrant corners that have fan moulding.
