Description
Maple House is a large house that was originally part of the Vicarage, now known as Grenville House, and is likely the service wing. It dates from the early 19th century. The front is finished with incised render, while the sides are made of brick and the rear is constructed from rubble stone. The roof is made of stone slate and features an embattled parapet with two brick stacks. The building is a long single range with a small rear wing, which was extended in the 20th century. It has two storeys and five windows, with 16-pane sash windows in plain cemented surrounds on each side and a central window with 12 panes arranged as 2/1/2. On the ground floor, there are two 16-pane sash windows to the left, a central doorcase with a semi-circular stone soffit, a decorative radial fanlight, and a door with six recessed panels featuring beaded decorations. To the right, there is a large segmental carriage arch that now has a garage door, along with a blind window opening at the far right. The rear facade includes two large brick relieving arches and brick dressings around the windows.
