Description
Barclays Bank is a semi-detached house that was converted into a bank, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone on a plinth, featuring alternating flush quoins, and has a hipped stone slate roof sloping to the left, with no visible stacks and a moulded wood eaves cornice. The building is a single range and stands two storeys tall.
It has three windows, which are 12-pane sashes with flush stone lintels and quoins. Below the windows is a plat band that is interrupted on the right by a 20th-century bank front, which includes panelled end piers and two central Doric columns supporting an entablature, with a small central pediment above the door. On either side of the entrance, there are bow windows, and to the left, there is a 20th-century bow window in what was previously a doorway, framed by a splayed stone surround.
