Description

HANLEY CASTLE CP A 440 (east side) SO 84 SW Whittemere 3/117 - II

House. Possibly C15. Timber-framing and brick with tile roof. One storey with attic, with two-storey cross-wing at right. Cross-wing has two sashed windows with glazing bars on the ground floor and one casement window on the first floor. Jowled principal posts are exposed. The truss has a tie-beam, collar, and curved struts. The main range has a large projecting chimney stack with a lean-to addition to its left. To its right are two casement windows and two attic dormers. At the right, adjoining the cross-wing, is a doorway under a tiled canopy. Two chimney stacks on right-hand wall of cross-wing. Interior not accessible at time of survey.
