Description
Cross Hands Cottage is a house that possibly dates back to the 16th century. It features a cruck frame with timber-framed walls and brick infill, topped with a shingle roof. The cottage is one storey high with an attic and is framed in square panels that include two curved tension braces. On the ground floor, there are three windows, and two dormer windows in the attic. The door is located to the right of the second window. The left-hand gable wall displays a truss with vertical struts between the tie-beam and collar, with principals that terminate at the collar. A part of a cruck truss can be seen in the right-hand gable wall. The interior was not accessible during the survey in May 1986, but it is reported to contain two additional cruck trusses.
