Description
The Cottage is a house dating from the late 15th century, with a 16th-century cross wing and 19th-century additions to the rear. It features a timber frame, a brick ground floor, a rendered first floor, and a plain tile roof. The building has an open hall with two unequal bays, a storeyed bay at the left end, and a separately framed added cross-wing at the right end. It stands two storeys tall with a cellar beneath the left end. The main range was formerly jettied at the left end, while the cross wing is jettied at the front and was formerly jettied at the rear. Both the main range and the wing have hipped roofs. There is a multiple stack on the front slope of the roof, off-centre to the right, and a projecting stack at the right end. The fenestration is irregular, featuring three three-light casements on the first floor—one towards the left end, one in the centre, and one in the cross-wing. A plain 20th-century door is located off-centre to the left. Inside, the ground-floor beams are exposed, and there is a moulded crown-post.
