Description
Hobbits is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century. It features timber-framing with brick infill set on a brick base, topped with a tile roof. The building is framed in two rows of square panels above a high sill beam and consists of one storey with an attic, comprising three bays. The attic is illuminated by gabled dormers. There is a door located between the first and second bays, which is sheltered by an open timber porch with shaped bargeboards. The house has chimneys on the gables and to the left of the door. The left-hand gable wall has been rebuilt in brick, and there is a chimney stack inscribed with the year "1751". Inside, the door leads into a lobby adjacent to a reconstructed inglenook. The middle room on the ground floor features a chamfered spine beam and a wall framed in square panels that separates it from the right-hand room.
