Description

Glebe Cottage is a house dating from around 1500, constructed of timber-framing and brick, topped with a tiled roof. The building features a one-storey hall with an attic on the right side. The front wall is close-studded and includes a middle rail. There is a 20th-century window towards the left, and a gabled attic dormer. A lean-to structure is present against the right-hand gable wall, likely located where a screens passage once was. To the left, there is a gabled cross-wing that was under repair at the time of the survey in May 1986, with its frame partially dismantled. A projecting chimney stack is situated against the left-hand wall. Inside, the hall features a chamfered main beam from an inserted ceiling that rests on the middle rail of the front wall. The central truss of the hall is said to have an arch-braced collar.
