Barn and stables about 20 yards west of Hurst Farmhouse

Barn and stables. Mid-C18 with mid-C19 and late C20 alterations. Brick with plain tiled roof. Six bays aligned north-east/south-west. Three-bay barn at south-west end has a central wagon bay with opposed cart entries; header ventilation courses. Main sough-east elevation has a lean-to with a catslide roof to the south-west bay and the two north-easternmost bays; both lean-to additions have stable doors and there are two windows in the north-eastern addition. Two C20 garage doors in fourth bay from south-west end. Loft opening with cambered head in south-west end. Interior: barn has intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts. C20 alterations at north-east end. The barn and stables enclose the north side of the former farmyard and face the main approach to Hurst Farmhouse (qv). Included for group value.
