Description
The dovecote, located to the west of the Dovecote Public House, is a late 17th-century structure that was restored in the 1980s. It is built of brick and features a tiled roof. The dovecote has an octagonal shape with a pyramidal roof and a brick cornice. On alternate faces, there are two-light single-chamfered brick-mullioned openings with louvres. The northwest face has a low round-headed entrance that includes an inner door and an outer iron gate. At the top, there is a boarded cupola with openings for birds and a weather vane. This dovecote was formerly part of Barnhurst Farm.
