Description

The dovecote, located west of Dovecote Cottage, is a structure that dates from the early to mid-18th century and was formerly part of Heighington Hall. It is built from squared limestone rubble and handmade brick arranged in a random bond, with a brick-lined interior. The dovecote has a square plan and stands 5.0 metres tall. It features dressed stone and brick quoins, a doorway under an elliptical brick arch on the right side, and a first-floor window opening beneath a brick lintel. There is a brick eaves band, but the roof is missing. Inside, there are nesting boxes and ledges. At the time of the survey, the dovecote was in a derelict condition.
