Description
The churchyard wall and gate piers to the east of Number 10 are from the mid to late 19th century and were partly repaired in 1932, as noted by a plaque at the north-east corner. The wall features a coursed rubble outer face and a dressed stone inner face, with some later rubble infill, particularly on the south wall. The tall wall encloses the rectangular churchyard on three sides.
The flat-coped north wall extends approximately 30 meters east from a point 12 meters east of Number 10 and includes an off-centre pair of tall gate piers topped with pyramidal caps and a rounded north-east corner. The flat-coped east wall runs south for about 80 meters and has a stone plaque at the north end that reads, "This ground ... made ready by Voluntary Labour 1932." This section features a ramped-up off-centre area with a round-arched doorway that has alternating jambs, a blocked doorway at the south end, and a rounded south-east corner.
The flat- and triangular-coped south wall extends west for around 100 meters and has partly rebuilt end sections. At the west end, there is another pair of tall gate piers with pyramidal caps, along with replaced iron overthrow and gates. The wall concludes at the Public Convenience. A short rebuilt rubble wall between Number 10 Church View and the North Wall is not of special interest but is included for group value.
