Description

The churchyard wall on the north side of the Church of St Peter was built in 1896, with some parts possibly dating back earlier. It is made of roughly squared, coursed stone, incorporating reused stone from the church. The wall extends approximately 49 meters east along the north side of the churchyard, angling back about 2 meters to the gable of the Tithe Barn. It is a plain wall, standing about 1.8 meters high, topped with a simple cap. There are three panels that contain reset carved stone from the 12th century and later, also including a stone coffin, with stone-slate hoods above the panels. The lower section of the wall on the angled return features a gate.
