Description

The gazebo and garden walls located at the rear of Number 43 are from the early to mid-18th century. The gazebo, along with the north and east walls, features squared limestone on the outside and handmade brick on the inside, arranged in an irregular English garden wall bond. The gazebo includes a brick chimney stack, while the west wall is constructed entirely of brick. These walls enclose three sides of a garden, with the gazebo positioned at the northeast corner. The gazebo is two stories high and has a replaced door with an oval window above leading to the garden. It has a steeply-pitched roof with raised verges and tumbled-in brick gables, as well as an east-end stack with a top band. The outer face facing Hall Lane has a blocked window beneath a rubbed-brick flat arch. The east and west walls are each approximately 50 meters long and flat-coped, while the north wall, which faces Hall Lane, is about 25 meters long and features alternating quoins on its outer face. Inside the gazebo, there is a small late 18th-century cast-iron bow-fronted grate with patterned shaped sides. The outbuildings at the southern ends of the east and west walls are not considered of special interest.
