Description
Nos 1 and 3 Birmingham Street are a pair of shops built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the later 19th century. The buildings are finished in stucco and feature a pyramidally-hipped slate roof, with stacks located at the rear of the ridge. They are three stories tall and have deeply overhanging bracketed eaves. The front facade has three windows: the second floor has shallow casements, while the first floor has sash windows, with the right window featuring a margin-light and the left and center windows having glazing bars only in the upper section. The ground floor includes an early 20th-century triple shop front on the left and a double late 19th-century shop front on the right, which has an inset half-glazed door. This shop front extends around the corner, forming a double ground floor shop front on the Market Place.
