Description

This building is a bank, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is located on Birmingham Street in Oldbury, Sandwell, and has a prominent corner location facing both Birmingham Street and Church Square. The bank is constructed from brick, with the ground floor stuccoed. It has a hipped slate roof. The main façade, facing Birmingham Street, has three bays, while the Church Square elevation originally had five bays, with two bays on the ground and three above. The ground floor is rusticated, and features 20th-century windows: three facing Birmingham Street and seven facing Church Square. The upper floors contain sash windows with glazing bars. The first-floor windows on the three-story section are accentuated by cornices supported on brackets. Doors are located to the right of the Birmingham Street elevation and across the corner where the two facades meet. The roof has overhanging eaves, and chimneys are situated on the ridge of the three-story section and to the left of the two-story section. The building demonstrates group value from the period.
