Description
Oldbury Public Library, originally a court house, was built in 1816. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond with painted stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building has two storeys and five bays. The ground floor features windows that are recessed within an arcade of round arches, which have keystones and an impost band. These windows are sashed with glazing bars and have gauged brick round heads. The first floor also has a similar arcade with moulded arches, and the windows here are sashed with Gothick glazing. In the central bay of the ground floor arcade, there is a 20th-century doorway. Above this doorway is a plaque that reads: "This Court House was erected AD 1816." A chimney is located on the right side of the building.
