Description

This is a house located at 73 Willes Road in Royal Leamington Spa, built around 1834-1838 with later additions and alterations, including an extension to the rear. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco on the front and right sides, topped with a Welsh slate roof and lead roofs over the verandahs.

The house has two storeys and features three first-floor windows. On the first floor, there is a continuous sill band and 1/1 sash windows with margin-lights set in moulded, eared surrounds, complete with blind boxes. The ground floor includes a plinth and horizontal rustication. Access to the central entrance is via three steps leading to a part-glazed, six-panel door flanked by pilaster strips and side-lights with glazing bars, all beneath a fanlight. The solid porch is supported by Tuscan pilasters and features a round-arched opening with a keystone, frieze, and cornice.

Tall 2/2 sash windows with margin-lights are present, each having its own verandah with a round-arched balustrade, octagonal posts, and a pierced frieze. The house has end and rear roof stacks, with the rear stack featuring a cornice. On the right return, the ground floor has a 2/2 sash window with margin-lights, while the first floor has a 6/6 sash window.

Inside, the ground-floor windows are fitted with shutters, and there is a dogleg staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail.
