House, now shop and flat. c1824-1836 with later additions and alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facade and Welsh slate roof with cast-iron balcony. 3 storeys with basement, 2 first-floor windows. First floor has 8-pane French windows. Second floor has 6/6 sashes. Ground floor: 3 steps to side entrance a panelled door with overlight with glazing bars with panelled reveals, surround has fluted pilaster strips and frieze. Inserted bay window has casements. Basement has casements. First-floor balcony has anthemion-and-heart motif. INTERIOR: not inspected. HISTORICAL NOTE: Portland Street was laid out 1823-1824.
