Description
No 2 Keytes Lane is a small cottage dating from the 17th century, constructed of painted brick with some timber framing. There is a small 19th-century extension to the south, also made of painted brick. The cottage features a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends and a brick modillion eaves cornice on the extension. The older part of the building sits on sandstone foundations and consists of one storey and an attic. Most of the windows are modern casements with glazing bars or leaded panes, and there is a modern glazed door with glazing bars beneath a tiled gabled canopy. A single brick ridge chimney stack is present. Inside, the cottage has chamfered ceiling beams, and the timber framing is exposed in the east gable of the older section. The floors are oak boarded, and there is an oak half-turn staircase.
