Description
Sun Cottage, located at No. 18 on Church Street in Barford, is an early 19th-century house featuring a facade with painted rough render and a rendered stone plinth. The building has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends and an eaves cornice. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays. The ornate central entrance door, which is five panels with three featuring linenfold carving and two being glazed, is accessed by two steps. Above the door is a rectangular stained glass fanlight, and the doorcase is carved with pilasters and corbels that support a pedimented hood. The pediment displays carved fruit and foliage, along with the face of a "sun god." On either side of the doorway are splayed bay windows with glazing bars. The first floor features three pairs of casements with cross glazing bars. There are two brick ridge chimney stacks located at the gables. Inside, the house has chamfered ceiling beams.
