Description
Endsleigh House, located at No 56 on High Street in Gargrave, is a house that likely dates from the late 18th century. It features a stucco exterior and a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays that are symmetrically arranged.
The tall doorway has a six-panel raised and fielded door, which is topped by an overlight with radiating glazing bars and a consoled cornice. This doorcase is framed by a moulded outer architrave with a round head. The ground floor windows are large sashes with glazing bars, while the first-floor windows are somewhat smaller, and all have plain surrounds. The house has moulded gable stacks.
The rear of the building may be older and is constructed of rubble that is partly plastered. It features a chamfered doorway with an extremely deep lintel, which is carved with the initials B H E and the year 1693.
