Description
Gables Cottage, located at No 11 on Church Street in Barford, is a timber-framed house dating from the early 17th century, featuring brick infill panels. It stands on stone foundations that are covered by modern brick casing at the street front. The house has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends on both the east and west sides. The south elevation displays two gabled bays and consists of two storeys plus an attic, arranged in two bays. On the ground floor, there are two pairs of cross mullion and transom casement windows with glazing bars. The first floor features two splayed oriel bay windows with leaded panes, each topped with tiled hoods. Additionally, there is a late 19th-century lean-to porch at the east gable, and a pair of brick diagonal chimney stacks.
