Description
Painsmore is a house located on Dowles Road in Upper Arley, dating from the early 17th century and remodelled in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the mid-20th century. The building features a timber frame with painted brick infill and painted brick, topped with tile roofs. It consists of two framed bays aligned east to west, with a gable-end stack on the east side and a lateral stack on the south side.
The south front has two storeys and includes a dentilled brick cornice on the left. To the left, there is one 2-light casement window, while the ground floor has three 2-light casement windows. The entrance, located to the left of centre, features a gabled tiled canopy and a 20th-century glazed door. The framing on the east gable consists of two square panels high, with straight tension braces reaching to the first floor. The gable itself has two collars, decorative quadrant braces, and V-struts in the apex.
