Description
The Warren, located at No 45 High Green, is a house dating from the early 17th century. It features a rendered timber frame and a black pantile roof. The building has a three-cell plan with an 18th-century brick bay added. The facade is two storeys high with irregular window arrangements. It has a rendered plinth and three three-light leaded casements on the ground floor, with two doorways situated between them. The doorcases were introduced during restoration work in the 1970s, which also altered the position of the right-hand door. Above the ground floor, there are three three-light casements on the first floor. The extreme left end of the facade has an ovolo moulded mullion and transom window with three lights, while a small two-light mullion window is located above the left-hand door and a two-light 18th-century leaded casement is positioned over the right-hand door. The house has a massive 17th-century brick off-centre axial stack and an 18th-century off-centre axial stack. Inside, the timber frame is exposed, with some timbers renewed, and the roof features clasp purlins.
