Description
Nos. 19 and 21 on The Street are a pair of dwellings dating from the mid-18th century. The original cottage, which is timber-framed and rendered, was extended to the left in the early 19th century using Flemish bond brick to create two cottages. Each cottage has a one-unit plan and is one storey high with an attic, featuring a four-window range.
No. 21, on the right, has a 19th-century plank door and mid-20th-century three-light casements on the ground floor, along with eyebrow dormers. No. 19 features 19th-century segmental brick arches over mid-20th-century three-light casements with glazing bars, and 19th-century three-light leaded casements in the eyebrow dormers. There is a 20th-century rear door for No. 19 and a rear extension for No. 21.
Inside, No. 21 includes a stop-chamfered beam, exposed timber framing, a queen-strut truss, 19th-century plank doors, and a winder stair adjacent to the stack. The buildings are included for their group value.
