Description
No. 45 is a house located on The Street in Brooke, dating from the early 17th century with an 18th-century addition. The building has a timber frame that is clad with brick, added around 1800, and features a pantile roof. It has a three-cell plan with a two-cell rendered addition to the north. The facade is one and a half storeys high, displaying irregular fenestration from around 1800. The ground floor includes openings with segmental arches, a 20th-century door in the left bay, followed by a 20th-century casement window, a 20th-century glazed door, and another 20th-century casement window. There are three attic dormers and kneelered parapet gables. The house has two off-centre axial stacks that have been restored. The left gable end, constructed in English bond, is mostly obscured by the 18th-century addition and shows close tumbling-in to the gable. The right gable was rebuilt during restoration in the 1970s. Inside, the timber frame is exposed, featuring run-out stops on the principal beams and two brick fireplaces with four-centred arches. The roof structure includes butt purlins.
