Description
No 24 High Street is a cottage dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a 19th-century extension and alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of squared sandstone and features a thatched roof covered with corrugated sheets, along with brick stacks. It has a two-cell, direct-entry plan and includes an added outshut. The cottage is a single storey with a door of four recessed panels located to the right of the centre. There is a two-light replacement casement window to the right and a similar window to the centre left, along with a single-pane fire window to the left end. All openings have thin timber lintels. The steeply-pitched roof has end stacks. Inside, the ground-floor room to the left has exposed chamfered joists with run-out and wave stops, and the hearth beam remains intact.
