Description
Birk Rigg is a house with an attached outbuilding, dating from the mid-18th century. It is built of regularly coursed ironstone and features an old tile roof with brick ridge and end stacks. The building has a three-unit plan, is two storeys tall with an attic, and has a three-window range. There is a 20th-century ribbed door located between the first and second bays, and a blocked door between the second and third bays. The windows are three-light leaded casements. At the rear, there is a 20th-century addition, and the attached outbuilding on the left, which is now partly incorporated into the house, has a corrugated iron roof, a small leaded window, and a boarded opening. The rear also shows some 19th and 20th-century alterations, including leaded casements and 20th-century double garage doors at the right end. The interior has not been inspected.
