Description
Hill Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse constructed from coursed squared ironstone. It features a tile roof with coped gable parapets and kneelers, stone end stacks with brick shafts, and a 19th-century blue brick ridge stack. The building is L-shaped, with a cross-wing on the right, and has two storeys and an attic, comprising three bays with the gable end facing the road.
The entrance is located in the angle and includes a ribbed door set within a moulded Tudor arch that has sunk spandrels and a hood mould with lozenge stops. The farmhouse has stone mullioned windows with hood moulds throughout, including a two-light window above the door. On the left side and the left return of the cross-wing, the original mullions have been removed and replaced with three-light casements, mostly leaded, featuring wooden lintels. There are three hipped roof dormers, each with two-light leaded casements.
At the rear, there is a four-window range, and the cross gable on the left is cut off higher on the right. The main range includes a door and three-light windows, with a continuous hood mould that steps up over the door. Leaded casements have been inserted in the cross-wing. The interior has not been inspected.
