Description
Hollow Meadow Farmhouse, now a house, was built in 1683, with later alterations in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Constructed from regular coursed ironstone, with a few courses of brick below the eaves, the farmhouse has a tile roof with old tiles to the right. The left side features a coped gable parapet and kneelers, while the left end has an ashlar stack and the right end has stone stacks. The building has a four-unit plan and a five-window front. A central porch was added in the late 20th century and has a ribbed door. The three central bays have stone mullioned windows with hood moulds; the ground floor windows have four lights, and the first floor windows have three. The left-hand windows are taller than the others. The mullions and hood moulds are painted. A single-light mullioned window sits centrally. A 20th-century three-light casement has a chamfered wood lintel, and a late 20th-century two-light casement is positioned above it to the right. A datestone bears the initials HHA. The left end of the building appears taller due to the sloping site. Inside, the farmhouse includes a good staircase with turned balusters.
