Description
Pingle House is a house located on the north side of London End in Priors Hardwick. It dates from the mid-18th century and has late 19th to early 20th century additions and alterations. The building is constructed of regularly coursed ironstone, with some brick additions. It features a tile roof that is hipped to the right, with a coped gable parapet to the left and additional parapets at the rear. The roof has both stone and brick stacks at the ends and ridge.
The house has an L-plan that has been extended to form a complex U-plan, with wings at the rear. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window range, along with a lower one-window addition to the left. The entrance front includes a string course and features a late 19th to early 20th century ribbed door set beneath a stone lintel. There is an open-fronted stone and timber porch with glazed side panels. The late 19th to early 20th century leaded wood casements consist of three lights to the left and two lights to the right, both with painted wood lintels. The ground floor on the right has a single window with a stone flat arch and keystone. The addition has a two-light casement with a segmental arch on the first floor.
The irregular right return side has a late 19th century gabled projection with a four-light casement on the right. The rear features a three-window range, with a recessed centre that has a 19th century brick lean-to, a plank door, and a three-light casement with a painted wood lintel. There is also a three-light box roof dormer. The mid-18th century left wing has cross windows on the right and a single attic light with a transom. A similar two-storey 19th century wing is located on the right, featuring central cross windows and a lean-to range on the left side. Both wings have stone wedge lintels with keystones.
The interior has not been inspected.
