Description
49 High Street is a house located in Henley-in-Arden, dating from the 17th century with later alterations. There is an 18th-century addition to the right end and a 19th-century addition to the left end. The building features a timber frame that has been refronted in painted brick, topped with a gabled roof covered in renewed tiles and a brick stack at the rear of the ridge. It has a two-unit plan with a single-unit addition to the right and a gabled range to the left return.
The exterior consists of one storey and an attic, highlighted by a top dentilled brick cornice. The entrance is marked by a 20th-century half-glazed door situated between two bay windows featuring three-light leaded glazing, all sheltered under a tiled pentice. To the right, there is a window with a 20th-century small-paned casement, and the attic includes two gabled dormers. The returns display exposed roof trusses with tie beams, collars, and diagonal struts, with the right return featuring a window with small-paned glazing. The gable end of the return range has a segmental-headed window with a three-light small-paned casement.
Inside, the house is noted for its chamfered beams and joists, along with a fireplace that includes a bressumer.
