Description
28 and 30 High Street is a pair of houses that have been converted into a café, dating from around 1820. The building is constructed of brick laid in Flemish bond and features a gabled roof with repaired tiles. There is a brick end stack at the front of the ridge and a similar rebuilt stack.
The exterior consists of two storeys with an attic and a two-window range. At the top, there is a dentilled brick cornice with wide dentils. The building has two segmental-headed entrances; the entrance to the left of centre is blocked and has an inserted two-light small-paned casement, while the entrance to the right end features a 20th-century plank door.
On the ground floor, there are segmental-headed windows to the left of the entrances, which have three-light small-paned casements with iron opening casements. The first floor has two segmental-headed windows with renewed three-light casements. There are also two 20th-century high gabled roof dormers with two-light small-paned casements. The ground floor includes 20th-century window awnings and a wrought-iron bracket that supports a sign. The interior has not been inspected.
