Description
The Old Bakehouse and two adjoining houses to the east are located on the village green in Tanworth-in-Arden. These buildings date from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. They are constructed of reddish-brown brick, which has been painted on the front facade, and feature plain-tile roofs.
The exterior consists of a two-storey section on the left with a single-window range, and a single-storey section with an attic on the right, arranged in a three-unit plan. The ground floor includes three entrances: a six-panel door beneath a gable, followed by two part-glazed doors with moulded wood surrounds. The central door is set under a flat brick arch, while the right door has a glazed window next to it, all under a flat brick arch. The windows include 8/8 sash types and two canted bay windows, one with multi-pane glazing and the other with casements. There is a first-floor band on the left, and the first floor features an 8/8 sash window. The attics have three gabled half-dormers, with the left one containing a 6/6 sash window and the others featuring casements. A dentil frieze runs along the building, interrupted by the attic windows on the right. At the rear, there is a stack to the left and a pair of diagonal off-centre stacks with cornices, along with a stack at the right end.
The interior has not been inspected. All the listed buildings on The Green are part of a group value context.
