Description

Three houses, dating from the 18th century with additions and alterations in the 19th century. They are built of reddish brick in Flemish bond, with plain-tile roofs. Each house has a two-unit plan.

The exteriors are two storeys throughout with attics, presenting an 8-window range. Each house has a panelled door within a wooden doorcase; two have scrolled brackets and hoods, and one has an open pediment. The two houses to the left each possess a canted bay window and a three-light casement on the ground floor. The house to the right has canted bay windows flanking the entrance, the left one with multi-pane windows, and the right one with 8/8 sashes between 4/4 sashes. The first floor features four wooden mullion and transom windows, all beneath cambered arches, along with two 8/8 sashes under flat arches with keystones, one multi-pane casement, and one mock 8/8 sash with similar surrounds. A first-floor band is present on the right-hand house only. A dentil eaves band is also visible. Velux roof lights are located in the centre house. End, ridge and internal stacks feature cornices. The house to the left is taller than the others.

The interiors have not been inspected. Arden Cottage, Baytree Cottage and The Old House are part of a group of listed buildings along The Green. Baytree Cottage and The Old House were originally listed on 5th April 1967.
