Description

Stonehouse Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with later alterations, constructed from coursed dressed limestone and featuring sandstone quoins. It has a steeply pitched old tile roof with brick end stacks and a cross-axial stack. The building has a 4-unit plan and includes a single-storey wing on the right end.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a four-window range. The entrance, located to the right of the centre, features a timber lintel above a six-panel door, four of which are glazed, set in a moulded frame. The windows have timber lintels; on the ground floor, there is a large window with a 20th-century casement to the left end, a four-light window with an iron opening casement, and two windows with two-light casements to the right of the entrance. The first floor has three-light windows with iron opening casements.

The wing has an ashlar and dressed stone gable wall with brick alterations at the gable head. The dressed stone return walls have brick eaves and a three-light casement on the inner return. The left return features a blocked entrance, along with ground-floor and first-floor windows; there is a two-light casement in the attic. The right return includes an entrance, two small blocked windows on the first floor, and a small attic window.

At the rear, there is an entrance to the left of the cross-axial stack, with windows featuring three-light casements. There is a small blocked light on the first floor to the right of the entrance and a small shuttered opening at the left end. The interior has not been inspected.
