Description

Newbold Pacey Hall is a house built in the late 18th century, with 19th century brick extensions at the rear. It features lined stucco and a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate or tiles, along with brick ridge stacks. The architectural style is reminiscent of Henry Holland, and the building has a double-depth plan.

The exterior consists of two storeys plus an attic, with a symmetrical five-window arrangement. At the top, there is an ashlar cornice and a blocking course. The entrance is marked by a Tuscan porch with two columns, a moulded doorcase, and a fanlight with glazing bars above paired three-panel doors. The windows have sills and stucco rusticated wedge lintels with key blocks over 6/6 sash windows, while two first-floor windows feature 19th century 2/2 sashes. There are also five small attic windows with 19th century 2/2 sashes.

On the right side, there is a central forward break beneath a pediment. The ground floor has two tall French windows in the centre, flanked by Venetian windows supported by Doric columns, angle pilasters, an entablature, and archivolt, with sashes that include glazing bars. The first floor mirrors this arrangement with central tall windows and lattice grilles, flanked by 6/6 sashes. The attic features two windows with 3/3 sashes and a lunette in the pediment.

The left return has a two-window arrangement, with a rear wing that includes 6/6 and 2/2 sashes. The gabled end wing has rubbed brick flat arches over an entrance with a six-panel door and windows. The rear-facing stables feature a lean-to outshut and first-floor windows with rusticated wedge lintels over 6/6 sashes. The right return of the rear wing has a large segmental-headed entrance and a segmental-headed window with three-light transomed small-paned glazing and an iron opening casement, along with some sashed windows.

The interior is noted for its contemporary staircases and fittings, including panelled shutters.
