Description

Easton Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with alterations from the 18th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a tiled roof and has gable end brick stacks. The building follows a T-shaped plan. The front facade is two storeys high with a two-window arrangement. A central, segmental-arched doorway features a six-panelled door with stone pilasters, imposts, and a keystone, alongside ovolo-moulded side-lights. There are twelve-pane sashes to the front, with one sash above the door and a single ovolo-moulded light to the left, and a blocked light to the right. The right return has a blocked window to the ground floor, a leaded light to the first floor, and two small windows to the attic, one leaded. The rear elevation has two recessed chamfered mullioned windows to the basement on the left, a large twelve-pane sash and a window to the ground floor, and a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned window on the first floor. A hollow-moulded string course runs around the rear. A projecting two-storey wing is centrally placed with French windows and sashes and a string course. The front of the wing has a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned window to the basement, and the return side has a lean-to extension. To the right of the wing, the main range has a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned window to both ground and first floors, again with a string course. The raised eaves of the entire house are defined by a moulded brick cornice. An extension with a hipped roof and two-light casements is attached to the left return. The interior retains chamfered beams, a staircase with stick balusters, and internal shutters to the windows.
