Description

This is a barn dating from the early 17th century. It features corrugated iron cladding over a timber frame, which is set on a stone and 19th-century brick plinth. The roof is gabled and covered with plain tiles and corrugated iron. The barn has a three-bay plan with a central threshing floor. There are double entries to the threshing floor, which are fitted with 19th-century plank doors on the south side.

Inside, the barn has an exposed timber frame with heavy scantling studs, mid rails, and diagonal corner bracing. The posts are jowled and have downward bracing to the cill beams of the partitions that flank the stone-flag threshing floor. The roof structure includes side-strut trusses with trenched purlins and a diagonally-set ridge purlin.
