Description

Plumtree Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, constructed of regularly coursed ironstone rubble. It features a steeply pitched 20th-century tile roof and has brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge, with the ridge stack set on a stone base. The building has ironstone quoins and consists of two sections, with a single storey plus an attic and a three-window range. The layout follows a through-passage plan and has a T-plan, although the rear door is now blocked.

The entrance, located to the left, has a plank door framed in wood with a wooden lintel above. To the left of the entrance is a three-light stone-mullioned window, while to the right are a small rectangular fixed-light window and two three-light stone mullion windows that feature hood moulds and label stops. In the attic, there are three additional three-light stone mullion windows with hood moulds and label stops.

At the rear of the farmhouse, there are two semi-circular two-storey staircase projections and a variety of window styles, including stone mullion windows and casements. Inside, the farmhouse boasts stop-chamfered beams and joists, as well as a stone spiral staircase in the left section. The right section features elm panelling on the first floor, plank doors, and inglenook fireplaces, with the left part containing an inglenook that includes a bread oven and a copper to the right.
