Description
Century House is a late 17th-century building that was originally two cottages and has since been remodelled in the 20th century. It is constructed from regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched slate roof with coped gables. The house has brick stacks on stone bases at both ends and stands two storeys plus an attic high, with a three-window range and two entrances.
On the left side, there is a plank door with wrought-iron hinges and a moulded wood door-frame, along with a 20th-century gabled porch. To the right, there is another 20th-century plank door with a hood mould and label stop. The left side also features a four-light stone-mullion window with a hood mould and label stops, while the right side has two 20th-century windows. The first floor includes two 2-light and one 3-light stone-mullioned windows, all with hood moulds and label stops, and there is a 20th-century roof dormer. The rear of the building is said to have re-set mullions.
Inside, the house has a stone flag floor and double-chamfer stopped beams, along with a straight flight stair.
