Description

This is a 17th-century house with later alterations and additions, situated on the south side of Cow Lane in Lower Brailes. The house is constructed of regular coursed ironstone rubble, with a steeply pitched Welsh slate roof and stone-coped gables. It has stone end stacks. The building is one storey high with an attic, and has a two-window front. The entrance, on the left, has a 20th-century plank door under a wooden lintel. To the right is a four-light stone mullioned window with a hood mould and label stops, alongside a 20th-century two-light casement window with a wooden lintel. The attic has two three-light stone mullioned windows, also with hood moulds and label stops. A steeply-pitched roof extends over an outshut at the right end of the house. A two-storey rear extension was added in the 20th century. Inside, original features include stop-chamfered beam and joists, a renewed spiral stair, original plank doors to the upstairs bedrooms, and surviving pegged roof trusses, visible at the apex.
